Ronelle Moodliar, MBBS, MMed(FamMed), is a Physician that incorporates Family Medicine into her unique approach to Clinical Research. Her attention to detail makes her the ideal Investigator, while her gentle, compassionate nature makes her the endeared family doctor. The combination is a Physician that sees the patient beyond the “research participant” who can develop concepts and implement structures that achieve the goal with patient care still being priority.
She graduated in 2003 as a medical practitioner and then completed her Masters in Family Medicine in 2012. She acquired experience through various disciplines over the last 10 years but focus of her career started in 2007 when she joined the drug-resistant TB department at King Dinuzulu Hospital. Working in this field alerted her to the need for clinical research that could positively impact these patients having to endure 2 years of treatment without a guarantee for cure.
In 2010 she joined the MRC for 4 years, where she was actively involved in a number of acclaimed studies in the drug resistant TB field. When she left the MRC, she partnered with the Empilweni Wellness Centre, a clinic that is a refuge for many patients that have not received appropriate care elsewhere. However, research has always been her passion and she found this same drive at THINK, where she now serves amongst people that are inspiring and just as passionate about the cause as she is.
