Nurse Siyabonga Myeza

“Indeed the Covid-19 pandemic has reshaped the role of nursing in healthcare system globally but more particular in Africa. During the pandemic nurses affirmed their position of being a backbone of the healthcare system. As nurses we became foot soldiers and lead from the front against an invisible enemy attacking our communities.

Nursing will never be the same after this pandemic, allow our voices as nurses to be heard and lead in determining the innovation ways to reshape the future of healthcare system, We have a vision for future healthcare.”

COMMEMORATING NURSES WHO LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO COVID 19.

The heroes and heroines of our country are no more, Covid 19 you’ve robbed us, you switched off a light that was a beacon of hope for our patients. Every battle has its own casualties but THE PRICE YOU PAID ITS WAY TOO HIGH,YOU PAID WITH YOUR LIVES

You confronted an enemy head on with bare hands, sent to a battle without proper weapons to defend yourselves. On countless times you’ve held hands of dying patients and made sure they not die alone, you squeezed their hands little bit harder when you noticed they now starting gasping respiration, you calmly brushed their foreheads when you noticed extremities turning blue, you cried with them when you realised the inevitable. Who held your hands when you needed a hand to hold? THE PRICE YOU PAID ITS WAY TOO HIGH,YOU PAID WITH YOUR LIVES.

You now no more because you were selfless. Your children are now without a mother because the total health of your patients remained your first consideration. THE PRICE YOU PAID ITS WAY TOO HIGH,YOU PAID WITH YOUR LIVES.

When everyone locked themselves inside their houses ,you woke early in the morning to help those who needed help to breath, who needed help to bath themselves, who needed help to take their meds .THE PRICE YOU PAID ITS WAY TOO HIGH,YOU PAID WITH YOUR LIVES.

Not a single day pass by without thinking about you, indeed you shall never be forgotten. My mind tells me God called you because He needed nurses in heaven. Please pass our kind regards to Florence Nightingale and Cecilia Makiwane let them know that the total health of our patients still remains our first consideration.

REST IN PEACE FELLOW COLLEGUES,THE PRICE YOU PAID ITS WAY TOO HIGH,YOU PAID WITH YOUR LIVES.
