From Dr Ronelle Moodliar

Health care workers (HCWs) and particularly our nurses, are at a higher risk of getting infectious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) and COVID-19 compared to the general population. Nurses are a precious resource in the fight against this disease that is often not appreciated, seen or heard by health care systems and governments despite sacrificially being in the frontline, tending to patients at a time of great vulnerability and need.

Clinical research is an avenue for nurses to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives and contribute towards better solutions for diagnosis and treatment for all patients affected by this disease in the future. Our THINK trial nurses are great examples of this who are contributing to this higher purpose! Their dedication and passion are palpable everyday through their support, kindness and compassion towards our patients and their willingness to go the extra mile whilst working in a multidisciplinary team and with many stakeholders. I am very proud to be working with such a high calibre of professionals that truly demonstrate making a difference in the lives of patients and colleagues alike through the example that they set.

Here’s to all our THINK nurses! We salute you!
