TB and HIV Investigative Network (THINK) is a non-profit organisation that engages with the local community, government consortia, international researchers and the pharmaceutical industry to develop vaccines, new diagnostic tools and treatment regimens to improve the health of those affected with TB, HIV and other ailments. THINK conducts internationally acclaimed clinical research focusing on TB and HIV to improve the quality of life of the people in South Africa and around the world.
THINK seeks to appoint a Community Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator to support all Clinical sites with community engagement and assist in Advocacy Programmes for all TB related programmes.
Qualifications and experience:
3-year diploma/degree in Community Development or Social Sciences; HIV/AIDS Counselling course; Project Management course is an added advantage; At least 3 years management/coordination experience of a community programme in clinical research; Experience in cohort coordination, cohort recruitment and retention, data collection, group facilitation, conducting focus group discussions and participatory research methodology.
Work experience in rural communities/poor resource communities is preferred; Coordination and management skills; Report writing skills; Zulu speaking with good command of English; Must be prepared to work flexi time and over weekends; Must have a valid drivers’ license Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitate and support community preparedness and education programs; Coordination of THINK community programmes at site level; Liaison with collaborators and key stakeholders.
Training/capacity development; Administration; Coordination and reporting of recruitment and retention; Recruitment and retention activities; Facilitating of CAB meetings, review of documentation; Completion of annual and quarterly sponsor reports Competencies: Analytical ability; Planning and organising; Quality orientation; Attention to detail; Managing time and work/deadline driven; Verbal and written communication skills
